The mind boggles at all the different types of dietary restrictions there are out there. Be it religious, ethical, weight loss or for health, here's an overview of all the different types of diet out there....

Once upon a time, I used to be a fussy eater. These days, I love food and I absolutely love trying new cuisines and exploring things I never heard of before. So, after a little bit of googling, I have come across some different diets that people do, some are cultural, some ethical and there are the fad diets designed for weight loss.

So, here is the A-Z of different diets.....

Atkins Diet

Founded by Dr. Robert Atkin and became popular in the early 2000s. Dieters would consume a high intake of protein and fat and low on carbohydrates. Although there is hardly any restrictions here, there is very little balance in this type of diet. it has been linked to a higher risk of developing osteoporosis, heart disease and some cancers. I see the appeal but I would not recommend!

Baby Food Diet

The baby good diet was made popular by a celebrity trainer, Tracey Anderson. Dieters would replace one meal a day with baby food so they would be consuming very little calories in that meal.

Cabbage Diet

A rapid weight-loss strategy lasting a week where dieters would have as much water and cabbage and certain other food as they wanted. A person can lose up to 10 pounds within a week.

Dairy-free

Dieters are usually intolerant or allergic to lactose. This type of diet cuts of cheese, milk, yoghurt, butter, etc.. There are dairy free alternatives that they would have instead.

Those on the Ornish diet only take in 10% of their calories from fat and the 90% from other sources and so this is also a very effective weight loss strategy.
