Creating daily routine

Routine doesn't have to mean boring or mundane; it can be liberating and give you more time to do things you want...

Having a daily routine is. a great form of self-care. It gives your day some structure and you can make time for the things that are important to your physical and mental wellbeing.

Sure, life throws us curveballs and we may fall off our regime but the thing about a daily routine is that you know what you need to do to get back into the swing of things.

Morning Routine

ᴿᴹ Make Your Bed

Start the day by making your bed. Usually, the bed makes up the biggest part of a bedroom and when this is made up, your room looks a lot better and brighter. Also, then you have a made bed, you can rest assure that when you come back from a long, hard day at work, you’ll have a nice, comfortable, well-made bed waiting for you to just relax in.

ᴿᴹ Healthy Breakfast

Your breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you fuel to keep going so make sure you get a good nutritiously rich breakfast in the morning that will keep you going for the day.

ᴿᴹ Reflection time

Take some time for reflection. You can think about the previous day; how was it for you; was there anything you would have liked to be different; what did you like about yesterday? And think about today; what to do you want to achieve; make a list of things to do for the day.

ᴿᴹ Read/ Watch the news

Take some time in the morning to catch up on the news. You can watch the news on television or go onto news websites or read a newspaper. always good to have an awareness of what is going on in the world.

ᴿᴹ Workout

Incorporate some sort of working out into your morning; this could be something as simple as a brisk half hour walk to a full workout session in the gym. Working out makes you feel energised and refreshed and by doing this in the morning, you feel like you have been productive and it sets you up to have a good day.

ᴿᴹ Shower

Start the morning with a nice warm shower to really wake you up. You will feel refreshed and energised and in the right mind to really get the day started. Don't forget to moisturise afterwards and use sunscreen lotion.

Night Routine

ᴿᴹ Hang Your Clothes

After a long day at work, it can be so tempting to take off your shirt and throw it onto your chair-drobe. Don't give into the gremlins, throw your clothes into your laundry hamper or hang up the clothes you want to wear a few more times. This only take a few seconds to do and it will pay in dividends when it comes to how you feel in the morning.

ᴿᴹ Food Prep

Get your food ready for the next day. It's healthier and so much more cost effective than to buy your lunch. Also you get to save time in the morning and enjoy those extra few minutes in bed.

ᴿᴹ Hot drink Get yourself a non-caffeinated hot drink such as herbal tea or even hot water with a slice of lemon. This is a good way to unwind and relax. Disconnect from your day and recharge as you take some sips from your drink.

ᴿᴹ Skincare routine

Take your make up off, cleanse, tone, serum, moisturise and eye cream yourself. Floss and brush your teeth. Put in your retainers. Wear your silk cap. Having a nightly skincare routine can act as a good schema for you to unwind. Plus nothing feels as calming or relaxing as a nice mini pamper session.

ᴿᴹ Read in bed

We are constantly surrounded by some form of stimulus. Disconnect yourself from social media, turn off your phone, turn off your laptop and any other devices you may have on around you. Turn back to the good old fashion paper book. Read a chapter of a book while in bed.
