What's special about Brighton

Brighton has been nicknamed as 'London by the sea' due to how easy it is for Londoners to commute in. Brighton is located in the south-east of England. The city boasts a pebble beach, a pier and an observation tower. It's most famous for it's open-minded community; there is a large LGBTQ+ population in Brighton.

Things to do

There are plenty of things to see and do in Brighton but for the day tripper, here are the things to look out for:

The Lanes

The Lanes consist of the North Laines and the South Lanes (I don't know why they are spelt differently). There are a collection of quirky, unique shops. In the North Laines, you will find a collection of independent retailers, boutiques, cafes and vintage shops. In the South Lanes, you will be greeted with twisting alleyways decorated with bunting and wall art murals.

Street art

Wherever you go in Brighton, you will not be far from street art. Be sure to take some time to roam around the city and explore all the different art work proudly dotted about the city.

Royal Pavilion

The Royal Pavilion was built for King George IV as a pleasure palace near the seaside. The designs for this was heavily influenced by the Taj Mahal. If you like old palaces then you can book tickets to go in. You can also enjoy the gardens of the Pavilion which is free to wander about in.

Brighton Beach

Relax on the pebbled Brighton beach. Get something to eat and drink and look out onto the water. And if you get the timings right, you can enjoy watching the sunset while you're on the beach.

Brighton Palace Pier

You can't go to Brighton Beach and not go into the Palace Pier. It is single-handedly the most fun place in Brighton where you can easily lose track of time. So, be militant about how much time and money you will be spending whilst inside the Pier.

Brighton West Pier

Brighton West Pier unfortunately fell victim to an arson attack in 2003. You can still see the skeletal remains of the old Pier and it's still something to look at especially if you like architecture and seeing old ruins.

Upside down house

There are a handful of upside down houses in the UK and Brighton is home to one of them. Definitely worth going to see. It is quite the trippy experience and you can take lots of fun and quirky pictures, perfect for the 'gram. Make sure to look at the opening times so you can fully enjoy your time there. Entry to the upside down house is around £5.00
