ᴿᴹ Constant comparison
Whether you're comparing yourself to your peers or people you see on social media, stop it. The more you do this, the more you are telling yourself that you aren't as good as others. The more you say this, the more you will believe it. Social media and your peers will only ever share the best of themselves. Do not compare yourself with the part of others that they choose to broadcast. You owe yourself more than that.
ᴿᴹ Analysis proalysis
Not everything we go through in life is for a reason and maybe we won't get that lesson people always talk about. You can spend an infinite amount of time exploring all the reasons why things paned out the way that they did. But you may never get the answer. Take stock of what you are in control of. If there's something you could do differently, that would make you feel better in yourself, do it. Avoid ruminating too much on the past. The longer you spend looking backwards, you'll be missing out on all the good that's ahead of you.
ᴿᴹ Catastrophizing
Catastrophizing is when you think the worst is going to happen. This may be because of past experiences. And while it's reasonable and okay to have your guard up sometimes, holding yourself back because you're worried about past experiences repeating itself is harming you. Don't let the past hold you back from putting yourself forward and aiming for the things that you want to get out of life.
ᴿᴹ Harmful self-comfort
Some people go to the drinks cabinet, some to drugs, some food, some casual sex with strangers. It's different for different people but the reason is always the same. Self-comfort, possibly trying to forget about the main issues at hand. While that in itself isn't bad, it's finding healthier coping strategies will be better in the long run. You could get into exercise, go for runs/ walk, cycle, gym or get into a creative hobbies such as drawing, painting, photography, etc.. Tap into your creative side and give attention to that. Your problems won't go away but at least, they won't get any worse. And you may find a hobby that you find therapeutic and relaxing.
