How to argue with class

No one likes to argue but sometimes you just need to get your point across....

ᴿᴹ Be willing to hear the other person. Listen to what the other person is saying. Everyone wants to be heard and feel respected. And it's the simplest way to avoid a disagreement escalating into an argument.

ᴿᴹ Stick to the facts. Sometimes, it is so tempting to just make up a few points here and there just to make your case stronger. This only makes you appear as untrustworthy and unreliable as the truth always has a way of coming out. It is also an unfair way of arguing. ᴿᴹ Play nice. You’re arguing to make your point heard and not to be a bully the other person or to be the stronger person. When arguing with someone, keep in mind that your end goal is to be heard. If you find yourself getting angry, take some time out, breath and count till you find yourself calming down. Angry people never get heard no matter how reasonable their points may be. All others see is just anger. ᴿᴹ Agree to disagree Not everyone will agree with you. Not all arguments can be won. Know which ones are worth having a fight about and which ones you can lay to rest. It is okay for two people to have different points of view and still be friends. ᴿᴹ Re-evaluate your point Don’t be so concerned about proving your point that miss out on a better solution or idea. You might not be as right as you thought and you may not have the best idea. That’s okay. You can always backtrack and gracefully change your opinion if you feel the other person has a better idea than you. ᴿᴹ Don’t be afraid to say 'Sorry'. Sometimes you will say and do things that is not right and that you are not proud of. Don’t be scared to admit you’re wrong and say sorry if you mean it. After all, hurting others was not your intention and it's a good way to keep relationships alive.
