Live music etiquette

ᴿᴹ Concerts

Best to book concert tickets as early as possible. You can shop around for the best deals and usually you can get the best prices from the venue rather than the booking sites.

Concerts are really fun. A lot of fans of the artist like to pay some homage through their outfit. This is just a bit of fun and of course, you do not need to do that.

At concerts, you cannot take food with you but you can buy food at the venue, which is usually at quite an extortionate price so better to eat ahead of time or after. With drinks- you can buy at the venue and they are usually very particular about the containers that are available.

For those who like to share fun experiences on social media, don't bother bringing in large cameras and DSLRs. They are bulky and can get in the way of you having fun. Also, some venues restrict these so you may have to put this aside and collect afterward, which is a bit annoying. The camera on your phone would be sufficient for this.

ᴿᴹ DJ

You an find DJs in different venues and events. They are at clubs, parties, weddings, etc.. DJs love their music and they love seeing people getting involved with their music. So, where there's a DJ, there will no doubt be some dancing involved.

ᴿᴹ Festivals

Festivals are a lot of fun and possibly the most relaxed way to enjoy live music. There are different types of festivals ranging from a day festival at a park to a week long extravaganzas. Festivals are quite pricy and it is best to book ahead to get a fair price for this. When booking, be sure to look at what items you're allowed to bring with you- some places do not mind you taking in camping chairs while others have a firm ban on this.

You're generally allowed to take food in with you to festivals. This is recommended as the food prices at festivals are pretty extortionate.

The worst thing about going to a festival is the toilets. I've only been to day-festivals and have never been to a portacabin loo- they look so grim

ᴿᴹ Gigs

Gigs are bars and clubs are a sociable way to enjoy a live band with your friends. You are in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. You wear whatever you want, feel relaxed and enjoy a drink or two as you watch your favourite local bands.

ᴿᴹ Jazz bar

Jazz bars are a more high end way of enjoying live music. You can dress up and get glammed up for an evening of live jazz music with dinner and drinks to follow.
