'What's your dream? Everyone who comes to Hollywood has a dream!'
Pretty Woman came to the theatres just as the pandemic started. It, along with the other theatre performances, had to take a hiatus and for a while, it seemed as though it was the end of all kinds of live performances.
Thankfully, we are now at a point where world of musicals, concerts and theatre shows are well and truly back. And for those who thought they missed out on watching the stage performance of Pretty Woman, you are in luck. Showing at the Savoy Theatre until
The show follows the unlikely love story of Vivienne and Edward. Vivienne works in the sex trade in Hollywood Boulevard and Edward is a billionaire business man. They have a chance meeting when Edward looses his way and asks Vivienne for directions.
Up until this point in Edward's life, he always prioritised work and business over any relationships. Edward, good looking and charming, finds it easy to make relationships but struggles to make them last. In one of the opening scenes, we see Edward ask his ex-partner if she spent more time with his assistant than she did with him whilst they were dating. To this, his ex-partner responded with "she was one of my bridesmaids".
Edward decidedly refrains from starting new relationships. When he meets Vivienne, he sees it as a way of bringing a partner to work functions whilst at the same time not promising or committing anything to Vivienne. And for Vivienne, meeting Edward is an opportunity for to leave behind the world of prostitution. And as with most things in life, the best laid plans did not pan out that way. Both Vivienne and Edward end up falling in love with each other.
Pretty Woman the musical has been beautifully transformed into a west end show with music created by Bryan Adams. If you are a fan of the movie, then this is a must see. I believe the show runs until mid-June so hurry up and book tickets now.
