Destination/ route
Before anything else, pick a destination and decide on the things you want to do. Have an itinerary and let the people whose on the trip with you know. See if they have any good suggestions to add into the plan.
Parking
It may not be possible to know exactly where you will parking once you get to your destination but definitely have a look online and see where the good parking spots are. This will cut down on a lot of last minute stresses once you're at your destination.
Good company
Only have good company on the road with you. The person who has the most experience on the road and is able to keep calm in a stressful situation sits next to you in the front. Everyone else sits in the back. And a major rule to follow is that all the people who come on the road trip must have a fun attitude.
Food
A road trip cannot be complete without a selection of good finger food. Think crisps, sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks. Keep a small pack of hand wipes as well as a plastic bag for all the garbage you will undoubtedly accumulate.
Music
How else will you be play Carpool Karaoke without music to sing along badly to. Think power ballads of the 1980s and 1990s, pop classics, a bit of Abba, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi.....play all the songs you can really belt out to. (And yes, I love old music)
Flexibility
As much as we would like to, we cannot plan for all eventualities. So, be a bit flexible about the things that you do and the things you see on your trip and just enjoy the adventure of the day :)
