Recipe: Pizza

Say goodbye to Dominos and Pizza Hut and say hello to home made pizza....

INGREDIENTS:

- 2 cups of all purpose flour

- Yeast

- 1 tbsp sugar

- pinch of salt

- 1 onion

- 1 clove of garlic

- 1 tsp of chilli flakes

- 1 tsp parsley

- 1 tinned tomatoes

- 220g grated mozzarella cheese

- mushrooms

- pepper

- cooked meat

- any topping of your choice.

METHOD:

First make the pizza dough, then the marinara sauce, followed by the the toppings of your choice.

- In a bowl add 3/4 cups of warm water

- Add in half tablespoon of sugar

- Add in a sachet of yeast

- Stir the mixture. When there is some bubbling on top, the yeast has been activated.

- In a separate bowl, add in 2 cups of all purpose flour

- Add half tablespoon of sugar

- Add a pinch of salt

- Stir the dry ingredients together and then add the yeast mixture

- Use your hands to form a dough ball. It may initially look like stringy dough but keep going and you will end up with a ball. If you feel your dough is too dry, add a few tablespoons of water

- When you have a ball of dough, smother it on both sides with olive oil

- Put cling film over the dough and set aside for one hour.

- In a heavy bottom frying pan sauté one onion in 4 tbs of olive oil

- Once the onions starts to thin, add in the garlic

- Add tinned tomatoes

- Add 1 tsp of sugar

- Add 1tsp of flaked chillis

- Add 1tsp of parsley

- When the dough is ready, flatten it on the baking tray

- Set the oven to 180C/fan/160C/gas 4 so it's warming in preparation for the pizza.

- Ladle over the tomato sauce onto the dough

- Add the grated cheese

- Add your favourite toppings. For my pizza, I added mushrooms, turkey and beef chorizo, cooked chicken and pepper. This is the stage where you can get really creative and have whatever you want on your pizza

- Put your pizza in the oven

- Keep an eye on the pizza; it should be done in 15 mins.
