I was lucky to have recently been contacted by Duvolle to try out one of their hair styling tools; I had the option to choose between their straighteners, 25" curling wand or the 35" curling wand. I chose to try out the 25mm curling wand from their Desire series, mainly cause I would be able to create much tighter curls than if I were to use the 32" curling wand.
A little bit about the the wand; it has a tourmaline barrel and that means infrared heat is produced and this deeply penetrates and evenly distributes heat through the hair. The amount of time required to produce curls with this is not as much as it would be if I were to use a ceramic curling wand and thus causing as little heat damage to your hair as possible. It also is clamp free so after styling hair, there is no annoying fold at the bottom; what a pet hate for many!
The wand also has an ergonomic hold so nice easy grip when styling your hair. Another feature that I really liked about the wand is the length of the cord, which runs up to 8 feet so if you have long hair or your mirror is at some distance from the plug socket, you will definitely feel the advantage of this small detail. Also, in case you are prone to burns via hair styling tools, Duvolle supplies one black heat resistant glove that you can wear on the hair holding hand, while the other hand holds the wand.
To curl my hair with the Duvolle wand, I sectioned off my hair into three parts and started from the bottom and went up. I ensured my hair was thoroughly combed through and there were no knots or tangles.
As with all hair styles that require some sort of heat, I used a heat protectant spray. I used the VO5 Heat Protect Spray which protects the hair up to 230°.
I started curling from the bottom up and curling one inwards and the next strand outwards. It's important that hair strands next to each other are not curled in the same direction otherwise it will all just merge in as one.
Once hair is curled fully, brush through lightly so it looks a little less sharp and a little more natural (as natural looking as styled hair can be) and voila...you are done.
And of course, I am linking my video below, which is a better guide on curling your hair with the Duvolle wand.
