I'd love for all styles and clothes to be open to me but over the course of the past 36 years, I have come to accept that these things are a no-go for me....
Oversized handbags

As much as I love oversized handbags, I have come to realise that these just do not work for me. Not only do they make me look like I am walking around with a carry on hand luggage or that I am a child wearing their mother's handbag, it is also rather uncomfortable. I am the sort of person who feels the need to make use of all space so with a larger handbag, I will fill it up with more things than is necessary, leaving me with a sore achy neck, back and shoulders. Instead, I will now wear a smaller handbag and if I do need extra bag space, I have a foldable, reusable shopping bag with me.
Clothing from the kid's department

Despite the well intended advice of buy from the kid's range as it is cheaper, it is not a piece of advice received with welcome arms. For starters, I am looking for a more grown up and sophisticated look and also, I do not have a child's body (I have boobs dammit!). Buying from the kid's range is a total no-go for me.
Bulky, chunky clothes

On the other side of the clothing spectrum are the oversized, baggy, chunky clothing. These make you look like you're wearing clothes that are meant for someone else. So I avoid these and I go for a more fitted style instead.
Box-shaped clothes

As beautiful and as current as some boxy dresses are, these are too ill fitting and do not show off your figure at all. At this point, I am starting to think I only wear super tight clothes, not the case. Clothes that are not fitted just do not work for a petite frame....at least that's what I have found in my case.
Super high heels

I know, I know....this is going to sound like a contradiction....but I avoid wearing super high heels as I feel like they will make me look disproportionate. Yes, they will make me look tall but they will also make my legs look a lot longer than my torso....I just want to look like I am in proportion.
Elasticated waist band

I avoid wearing any skirts, trousers or shorts that have a ruched elasticated band. It adds a lot of bulk to the outfit. As a petite, this makes you look almost engulfed by your clothes, a look I am very much trying to stay away from.
Beehive hairstyle

The bumpit and the beehive were all the rage a few years ago. It's a clever way of putting on a few inches to your height. There is however, too much of a good thing and I have always associated this hairstyle with Marge Simpson....that is definitely a look I would want to stay away from.
