Simplify your life

ᴿᴹ Get rid of emotional clutter

Think about getting rid of the things that make you feel bad. Do you have gifts from an ex or items from a time in your life which now make you feel bad? Take some time over these items and think about what you want to get rid of. Of course, you don't have to get rid of anything at all. You can just store things away in a place you're not likely to see them.

ᴿᴹ Take control of your own decisions

There may be some points in your life where people will have opinions and they will give you their unsolicited advice. It can be so easy to hear what everyone else is saying that your own voice gets drowned out and struggle to know what you want to do. Do stop and listen to what people say but ultimately you should be the one who has the ultimate power and authority of what is right for you. You don't always have to share your plans with everyone just know that you are the decision maker of your life.

ᴿᴹ Stop following fads

Fads are trendy and only last for a season. That being said, some fads are great but most are a waste of time and money. See what fads you are drawn to; do these suit your need, do they suit you and can you afford it? Ask yourself the right questions and you find if a fad is worth investing in. If you think you are buying the item just for the sake of having it, then reconsider getting it. Think of all the things you would rather be spending your money on and know that by buying something you don't want or need, you are taking away from what it is that you really want.

ᴿᴹ Choose quality over quantity

When I was younger, I was all about the false-economy life. I would buy lots of cheap items, thinking I was getting lots of options. I ended up having more items than I needed. Having an excessive number of things meant I did not always use what I had. Often I did not know what I had, as items would just get lost in my closet. Fast forward to now, I would advise younger me to stop wasting money on cheap items and invest in one investment piece which will get used and loved more and last a much longer time.

ᴿᴹ Be comfortable with nothing

We are living at a time where there is a continuous stream of stimulation. Learn to be okay with nothing. Sometimes, it is okay to have nothing to do and to just rest and unwind. Learn to live in the moment and enjoy the present, without being hung up with the past and all that that has been and gone. Take a break from thinking about the future; things will be fine, you are working your way up. So, just take a few minutes everyday for nothing. And be sure to enjoy your nothing time; it's precious.
