ᴿᴹ Find your passions
Find out what you're good at, your passions, what drives you and make this your focus. Unfortunately, life often tells us we are not good enough and we become so disillusioned that our dreams take a backseat and we say it was unrealistic anyway. If there is something that you are passionate about, don’t let it rest. Find courses either online or an evening/ weekend class. Classes are great as they will give you greater knowledge about the subject area while also giving you a better idea of the industry you want to get into. Join groups (Meet-up or through Facebook and other social media) to get more exposure to your passions.
ᴿᴹ Get rid of the nay-sayers
This may be a tip that's easier said than done, for instance if you have nay-say parents, you can’t exactly get rid of them but you can control what aspects of your life they are privy to. Don’t allow anyone or anything to get in the way of your dreams. This also includes any negative thoughts that you may be harbouring. Sometime, life doesn’t always go our way. But keep your chin up and keep on moving ahead. All of life’s traumas and hardships are lessons in disguise. So, with all the battles you face, be sure to take a lesson away from them and keep on moving forward.
ᴿᴹ Don't get stagnant
Don’t get stuck in one place for too long. Each job you land, you face the opportunity for growth and development. Be sure to take full advantage of this. Be on top of your game in your post and then think of moving on. Each job you have should be better than the last. And if you're ever in the wrong job, don't try to make it happen. Be okay with leaving things behind that do not serve you.
ᴿᴹ Be smart with money
Be smart with your money. Open a savings account and deposit some money each time you get paid. Even if you are unsure about what you want to do with your savings, keep setting money aside. Life can be unpredictable and it is always sensible to have a financial safety net. And if you're really money-savy, you can look into investment opportunities and put your money into stocks and shares.
ᴿᴹ Smart networking
Make friends wherever you work. You will likely find people with similar interests, passions and hobbies. The conversations you have can give you insight into areas of opportunities you never knew existed before. You will be building genuine connections with like-minded people. You don't have to befriend everyone but keep an open-mind and build relationships in every place you work.
ᴿᴹ Be open to growth and opportunities
Opportunities come in all forms. Keep yourself open to advice and suggestions. People are always willing to help those who have ambition and drive. So, if you are a hard worker and you know you will be great in your chosen field, then let people know where you want to go (particularly those who are already doing your dream job). Listen to their advice and allow yourself the chance to be the best version of yourself, doing the job you have always dreamt of doing and having the life you deserve.
