Tina the muscial

If you've watched the biopic What's love got to do with it, you will have an idea of what to expect from Tina the musical.

Tina Turner, dubbed the Queen of Rock n' Roll is one of the most popular and successful female singer-songwriters of all times. The show follows her journey from a young girl in a small town where Tina went by her birth name of Anna Mae Bullock, to how she became the global legend of Tina Turner.

Tina's popularity grew when she had a chance meeting with Ike Turner, who at the time was already well established in the music scene. While meeting Ike did undoubtedly do wonders for Tina Turner's career as a musician, it came with a price.

In short, Ike was an abusive man - physically, emotionally and financially. We see how Tina flourishes and comes into her own as she stands her ground. She removes herself from Ike's control. She fights for the right to the Tina Turner name and brand and successfully wins. We see Tina Turner go from strength to strength as she deals with all the difficult relationships in her life, including that with her own parents as well.

While the show does hit on some hard issues and at times, quite difficult to stomach, it is one to watch. All of Tina's biggest hits are beautifully incorporated into the show with a few extras.
