At best back pain can be an inconvenience and at worst, it can be debilitating. You may need to take some time off from work, get appointments with the chiropractor and take some painkillers.
Here are some simple ways to tackle lower back pain:
Reduce stress
There is link between stress levels and lower back pain so where possible, try to reduce your stress levels. Is it possible to reduce your workload or perhaps there is a task which you have been putting off and that is causing you undue stress. Whatever the source of your stress, try to tackle it head on.
Schedule time for relaxing
Whether it's having a bath or meditation, do something you find relaxing. This will help you relieve you of your stress.
Get back support
Use back support where possible. You can get lumbar support for office chairs on Amazon. These relieve the back from extended periods of stress from sitting down. If you don't have a back support close to hand, you can use a piece of clothing scrunched up and placed between your back and the chair or use a thick book.
Keep it moving
Your body is designed for movement. Unfortunately modern day life means that we spend most of the day sat at a desk. Keep yourself active by doing things that you don't find painful; go for a walk, a cycle, yoga, etc..
Stretches
The back needs to be exercised and maintained. For this, doing daily stretches is important. To add this to your routine, you can make this the first thing or last thing you do in the day.
Support your back when sleeping
Perhaps sleep has been an issue for you. Your back may be unsupported. Try placing a pillow under your knees so your back lies flat and avoid lying on your stomach as that may cause you to feel more pain.
Painkillers
If you are in pain, don't be a hero. Take a couple of paracetamols and listen to what your back is telling you....
